Driving development and progression within each of these genres is a dedicated artistic team, faculty staff and committee members. Learn more about each of our thirteen different dance genres below.
Our Genre Faculty Committees are responsible for the development of their particular technique through courses and syllabi updates, as well as various competitions, scholarship awards and other activities. Faculty Committees are elected by a ballot of their members every three years.
The Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet provides outstanding training for ballet dancers of all levels. We offer examinations, courses and performance events that provide recreational, vocational, and professional training.
Classical Greek offers a diverse range of performance styles and qualities of movement, creating musical, expressive, and versatile dancers.
With a rich cultural history, Classical Indian Dance or South Asian Dance consists of various methods. We offer two - Bharatanatyam and Kathak.

Developed by the Society in the 20th Century, Imperial Ballet promotes the English classical style and addresses the changing needs of dancers today.
The dance forms of Cha Cha Cha, Jive, Paso Doble, Rumba and Samba are couples dances which derived from Latin American countries.
This dance style includes several techniques such as the Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Ballroom Tango.
Modern Theatre dance is a rhythmic dance style that originated in America before travelling to the rest of the world.
This genre covers a wide range of European Folk Dance including Scottish, Finnish, Danish and English to name but a few. These traditional dances were developed by communities in the corresponding country and help provide a sense of community and awareness of others.
This dance genre gained its name from dances arranged in 16 bars of music, which is repeated. The styles performed in Sequence are Classical Sequence, Modern Sequence, and Latin Sequence.
