Initial Teaching Qualifications

We offer different training qualifications, both regulated and non-regulated, depending on your geographical location and the genre(s) you wish to teach. Our initial teaching qualifications are aimed at new teachers with no prior teaching experience.

 

Regulated Qualification

Level 4 DDE

Are you studying Theatre Dance and a UK or EU resident? The Ofqual regulated Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) is the primary qualification for you to become an Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing qualified teacher.

Associate and Associate Diploma – Theatre Dance

The Associate and Associate Diploma are unregulated dance teaching qualifications that provide international dance teachers an opportunity to increase their syllabus knowledge and teaching skills, to a level that enables them to work professionally in practical settings, as qualified members of the ISTD.

Student Teacher and Associate in Dancesport

Our Dancesport genres follow a different route and these are accessible to all UK and International students. We offer two internationally recognised qualifications; the Student Teacher and Associate examinations.

Level 4 Diploma in Teaching Community Dance  (DTCD)

The Diploma in Teaching Community Dance (DTCD) is designed as an initial teaching qualification to support learners in taking their first steps into dance teaching.

Quality Assurance

The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England. They maintain standards and confidence in qualifications in England and are independent of government and report directly to Parliament.
