Cecchetti Society of Southern Africa (CSSA)
Cecchetti Society of Southern Africa (CSSA) is proud to be an affiliate member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and values the relationship which has existed between the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and CSSA for a period of more than ninety years. CSSA is, likewise, honoured to share intrinsic links with the Cecchetti Society Classical Ballet Faculty, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Generations of teachers, dancers and choreographers from both entities have established a prominent professional profile which has interwoven to richly contribute to the history of British and South African ballet, as well as the development of classical ballet worldwide. CSSA was founded in 1928 under the Chairmanship of Margaret Craske, a student of Maestro Enrico Cecchetti. Margaret Craske was sent from London to South Africa, by Mr Cyril W. Beaumont, the then Chairman of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, to form the affiliated branch of the Cecchetti Society of Southern Africa. |
