Richard Glasstone with good friend and Cecchetti teacher Jacqui Lewis
An Honorary Fellow is described in the Society’s Rules and Standing Orders as being awarded for ‘exceptionally meritorious services to the art of dancing.’ As such it is the highest mark of honour that the Society confers.
As a world-leading authority on teaching the Cecchetti method, and a pillar of the Cecchetti Society and Faculty for more than six decades, Council were unanimous in their decision to bestow this award upon Richard. The presentation was made by Head of Faculty Development – Cecchetti Classical Ballet, Philippa McMeechan, on Tuesday 13 June.
The many books and articles Richard has written and the films that have been made of his teaching and choreography will serve as an enduring legacy. His innumerable students across the world, who are now teachers and dance directors themselves, are sharing his knowledge and wisdom in every class they give for the benefit of current and future generations.
Congratulations to Mr. Richard Glasstone MBE on the presentation of this Award.
More information on Richard's contributions to the art of dance and the award will be published in Issue 500 of Dance magazine.
