With recorded entries screened and adjudicated alongside live entries performed onstage on the day, we were able to include our international community in the event and celebrate the truly global nature of our dance genre.
For the first time, with great success, we introduced Junior, Intermediate and Senior Class Performance Awards. These opened the day and were generously sponsored by Freed of London, who provided £50 vouchers for Performance; Response and Demonstration; and Musicality awarded in each section, totalling £600 worth of vouchers in all.
The afternoon focused on our traditional Grandison Clark competition, with a whole range of beautifully costumed entries ranging from solos through duets, trios and quartets, to spectacular group dances. Throughout the event we were fortunate to have David Needham as adjudicator, highly respected and experienced in his field and ably assisted for the busy Class Performance Awards by Lead Examiner Barbara Simons.
Overall the standard was extremely high and the participating dancers were a great credit to their teachers who have coped so well with all the challenges of recent years. Many congratulations to all who took part and performed so beautifully. Sincere thanks are due to all the many helpers and experts without whom we could not have run the day, and most especially to the National Committee who worked so hard to make the event possible.
