Keith-Derrick Randolph – Society Trustee
“I want to first thank the ISTD, Modern Theatre Faculty and Lisa Harrison-Jones for asking and giving me the opportunity to be a part of this inspiring choreography competition. I was in awe of the commitment and passion evident in the works presented from around the world. In everyone’s energy and creativity it showed that even in this pandemic nothing can destroy our artform. But more importantly that the spirit of the Society and that you as teachers and young dancers have survived.
I think that in this energy, commitment, passion, and accessibility the CREATION Choreographic Competition has taken on a new life and force that will continue on. There are many teachers, choreographers and dancers that took part in this competition that I would like to encourage to continue in their passion, commitment, and professionalism. But also, to keep open for continuous growth and innovation. In you all the ISTD is strong and a globally diverse community.”
Karen King FISTD – Society Trustee
“An uplifting week, viewing the inspirational choreography from this years CREATION entrants. After the restrictions, we have all experienced, it was such a privilege to witness the passion and creativity of so many teachers and students from all over the world. A wonderful tribute to Miss Bird and a reminder of the quality of work from the global ISTD family.”
Andrew Wilson ARAD FISTD – Doreen Bird Foundation Representative
“A huge thank you and congratulations to all the choreographers, dancers and teachers who were part of CREATION in recognition of the work achieved by our dear colleague, Doreen Bird. It was so lovely to see your immense passion, artistry, and choreographic skills being so beautifully expressed within a dance environment and the incredible enjoyment that you all clearly shared in doing so.
How amazing to find out how many countries were involved in taking part, proving that dance is indeed international and one of the most common ways that we all choose to express ourselves.
It was beautiful to see such expressive performances and it was very clear how much you all love to move. Huge congratulations to you all again and may you continue to shine your light, wherever you may go.”
