120 Celebration: Ballroom Latin Sequence Congress
1 September 2024, Chessington
Join us at the BLS Congress on 1 September 2024 at Chessington Leisure Centre, where we have an exciting day planned for both students and teachers.
Classes are led by a wonderful group of industry experts – teaching classes in Ballroom, Latin American, Sequence and American Smooth – followed by a joint masterclass delivered by ISTD president, Shirley Ballas.
As a world champion dancer, an established dance teacher, the chair of the Strictly Come Dancing panel of judges and new ISTD president, we are delighted to have Shirley involved.
Shirley will teach a short Cha-Cha-Cha routine, which will form the basis of the President competition – a solo competition where all dancers will perform the same routine and one overall winner will be crowned.
"Shirley excels in her commitment to ISTD’s key values of passion, excellence, continuing professional development, creativity, diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is an inspiration to our members, their students, and the wider dance community." said Mick Elliott, ISTD Chair of Trustees.

120 Celebration: Theatre Congress
2 November 2024, Reading
We are really excited to be able to hold our first Theatre Congress for several years as part of our 120 years celebration anniversary. We have planned a full day of sharing all theatre genres ‘under one roof’. There will be a teacher’s workshops in the main hall with opportunities to observe student demonstrations, get up and dance yourselves and recap existing and new work. The day will close with a performance from students at Queen Anne's, where the event is held. For students, there will be masterclasses running at the same time for them to enjoy.
This event will be bursting full of content to take away for your own development, as well as the opportunity to share good practice.
A buffet lunch will be provided (for teachers) and will enable you to mingle and catch up with other teachers in the ISTD community.
We hope that you will have access to genres that you might not normally teach and be able to take away not only learning experiences but also remember why you are proud to be part of the ISTD community. Join us in the celebrations and spend a day dancing together.
